Will of Phinlo Clague 1747-2 Lonan

The last Will & Testament of Phinlo Clagu--- of KK Lonan who departed this Life ab’t the 4th day--- of October 1747 being of perfect mind and memory---at the Making hereof –

First he comitted his Soul unto God, and Body to Christian burial.

Itm He left and Bequeathed to his Loving Wife Anne Clague als Stole all his Goods and Effects, and his said wife asked him does thou leave a Legacy to the Children? or otherwise the Will can’t stand; To which He reply’d, I Leave six pence Legacy to any person or persons might or can Claim any right to his said Goods or Effects, and this before the Subscribing Wittnesses, who further asked him what does then concerning the Land? He replyed that [was] settled already.

At a Chapter Court in KK Braddan Oct’r. 20. 1747 The Testator being but in mean Circumstances and the Exec’r having undertaken the maintenance of the Orphans & to give them Namely to Jane & Anne Ten shill’s w’n they come to years, this Will is accepted off whereupon Anne the Relict is sworn Ellin’r the Eldest Dau’r – Pledges are Tho: Brew & Dan: Fargher
